I have an important message to share with you regarding Joomla’s participation in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) this year. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control, Joomla was not accepted to participate in GSoC 2015.
The Joomla project proudly released Joomla 3.4 on 24 February 2015. The 3.4 release introduces new features into the CMS such as improved front end module editing, decoupling of weblinks, composer integration, Google's new reCaptcha, and security improvements by implementing UploadShield code which can detect most malicious uploads by examining their filenames and file contents.
Since its inception, JAB has been an awesome & feature packed event which gets together 300+ Joomla! users across the world. The best innovations and advancements in the Joomla world are shared here and it would be fair to say that it is the Mecca of anyone working in Joomla. As always it was a rocking event ! Once again Joomla will be participating in the Google Summer of Code, and this year we have 8 excellent student projects that were accepted by Google on April 21, 2014. Congratulations to all the students that will be joining the Joomla Google Summer of Code project this year!
The stable release of Joomla! CMS 3.3 is only a few weeks away, so it’s time to start planning the upgrade, as there are some significant enhancements that will improve your site.
We currently have several students who are participating in the GSoC Mailing List discussions and deciding on which project they want to tackle this year from the Joomla 2014 GSoC Project Ideas list. But we would really like to see as many students as possible take advantage of this great opportunity.
A few short weeks ago, Joomla was accepted into the 2014 Google Summer of Code! That makes 8 years that the Joomla project has participated as a Mentor Organization and we’re excited to take part again this year.
This week (Monday 10th - Friday 14th 2014) Joomla will be present at CeBIT 2014, which is the world's largest and most international computer expo in Hannover, Germany.
